Adopt
A Cop
Our 'Adopt-a-Cop" Policeman in our school is Constable Paul Petersen. Our school children and school community enjoy a very cordial relationship with the police.
ASSPA The Aboriginal Student Support and Parent Awareness Program.
Religious Education Rasmussen State School provides a requirements list for the years p-7. All parents/carers are asked to provide the items to enable your child to undertake learning activities. The school asks for a contribution for religious education where religious education teachers are available for a class. Please send these along to your child's teacher in the cash collection envelopes provided.
Dental Clinic A mobile dental clinic visits the school annually to treat all children. Dental work is not performed without explicit permission from the parent.
Excursion At times excursions or camps may be organised as part of the school curriculum program. Prior parental written notice and approval is always required and costs are involved. Generally speaking, money paid for such camps or excursions is non-refundable. Children are required to be in full school uniform to comply with Workplace, Health and Safety Regulations. Severe breaches of rules can result in parents being requested to collect the child from the venue at their own expense.
Instrumental Music Instrumental Music Instructors employed by Education Queensland visit our school each week to give lessons in string and wind instruments and percussion. If you would like your child to participate, please contact the Music Teacher for more details. String

Rasmussen has students who lead the school, model expected behaviours, represent the school and have a say in the school operations. We have two forums for this:
School Captains - who are elected by the school community at the end of their sixth year. The process for selection is based on an interview process, supported by teacher references. The students are informed of expected traits such as work habits, peer support, handling of responsibility, honesty, reliability, approachability, trust, and their impact in the role. Student Council - This consists of the school captains and vice captains and students from Years 4-7 who are elected by their peers to represent them as well as P-3. This council organises student activities, provides feedback on the wants and needs of the student population as well as school policies, and fundraises for 'little extras' as well as learning the process of meetings and responsibilities.
